One of my favourite local loops is a 16 mile off road circuit that passes by the picturesque Moorgreen Reservoir. When the sun is shining the Reservoir reflects perfectly like mirror.
This is the final video of my Moorgreen Reservoir playlist. It is my favourite local singletrack trail. A nice fast flowing trail to end the ride.
The trail is contained in the small ‘Newstead cutting’ wood situated between Hucknall and Kirkby. Coming from the Annesley bypass and section seven you enter the wood on to a wide forest trail. After about 300 metres there is a right-hand bend. When on the bend look left for a track that goes right into the trees. The entrance changes over time depending on the season. It can be secluded by low hanging trees and shrubs as you come to the bend.
Once on the trail head straight on getting faster on the slight decline, the best part of the trail really begins when you sweep right and hit the edge of the wood. Going in parallel with the field the trail becomes singletrack with roots, tree ruts, hollows, and a couple of fast sections to negotiate. After the first few hundred metres ducking and diving you head round a tree to hit a fast-wider section that takes you right to the end of the section. Exit the woods onto the Annesley cutting road to finish the section and the Moorgreen Loop.
