Today the OVO Tour of Britain lands in Robing HoodCountry. The riders will pass through starting at West Bridgeford in Nottingham and then Finishing in the Market town of Mansfield. Along the way they pass by the majority of my local rides and particularly through the grounds of Newstead Abbey.
I had a ride through yesterday and thought how different it will be with the full entourage follow the Tour of Britain. Normally a lazy quiet place suddenly transformed into a buzz of national biking. It made me realise that most people watching the tour won't appreciate what area's are like on a normal day. So I put together a little video passing through the grounds of Newsteadon a normal winter's day.
Being the longest stage of this years ride at 223km it rolls through a lot of the county. It also passes by Moorgreen Reservoir a lovely quiet place that leads into the Felly. The route rolls down the hill from Hucknall and past the Horse and Groom pub on the corner before heading to Underwood. Moorgreen has a lovely route on its edge for walkers and bikers. Here are a couple of videos showing these off in the bright sunshine.
I hope you enjoy watching the Tour today and you see our area as it should be seen!!
